“Russia remains Moldova’s important partner that is why belligerent statements and the attempts to stir up tension in bilateral relations are unacceptable,” Igor Corman says

CHISINAU, May 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Moldova’s parliament speaker has called for holding a more active dialogue with Russia.

“Today the dialogue is indispensable for us than ever before in order to avoid any misunderstanding, including on the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union,” Speaker Igor Corman said on Thursday.

Chisinau should understand Moscow’s position on this issue and build up its arguments in order to find a mutually advantageous decision, he said.

Now it’s the government and the parliament that should deal with this matter, Corman said.

“Russia remains Moldova’s important partner that is why belligerent statements and the attempts to stir up tension in bilateral relations are unacceptable. Even our colleagues from the EU and the US call on us to hold an opener dialogue with Moscow,” he said.

Russia is the republic’s major trade partner. Many Moldovan labour migrants work in Russia, he said, adding that citizens’ interests should be the cornerstone of Moldova’s policy.
