Belarus ratifies agreement with Russia on GLONASS cooperation
Belarus as a party to the agreement will be able to take part in joint scientific- technical projects in satellite navigation, exchange of information and computer software
MINSK, May 21. /ITAR-TASS/. The lower house of the National Assembly of Belarus on Wednesday has ratified an agreement on cooperation in the field of the deployment and development of the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation system.
The agreement reached by the governments of Russia and Belarus, envisages the establishment of a legal basis for cooperation in the use of the GLONASS system and corresponding satellite navigation technologies, said Sergei Gurulev, Chairman of the State Military-Industrial committee of Belarus, when he presented a ratification bill to the Belarusian parliament.
The agreement envisages cooperation between the two countries in the adjustment of the GLONASS system for use on the territory of Belarus and advancing goods and services by means of GLONASS-based marketing policies to the Russian, Belarusian and international markets, Gurulev said.
Belarus as a party to the agreement will be able to take part in joint scientific- technical projects in satellite navigation, exchange of scientific- technical information and computer software and personnel training programs, a source from the committee on education, science and culture of the lower house of the Belarusian parliament told ITAR-TASS.
