Lavrov urges OSCE to use all possibilities to release Russian TV journalists in Ukraine

“OSCE Chairman has assured that he will immediately go into this question,” the Foreign Ministry said

MOSCOW, May 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to use urgently all possibilities of this organisation to release Russian journalists from LifeNews TV channel in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

In connection with the detention of LifeNews reporters by Ukrainian servicemen in Kramatorsk May 18, Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov got in touch with OSCE Chairman-in-Office and President of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter and urged him to promptly use all the possibilities of this organization for the immediate release of the Russian journalists, the Foreign Ministry reported. “OSCE Chairman has assured that he will immediately go into this question,” the Foreign Ministry added.

“Similar demarches were also made before the leadership of OSCE Secretariat in Vienna and the OSCE mission headquarters in Kiev, Ukraine,” the Russian ministry reported.

“The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be seeking the soonest settling of the situation around the Russian journalists,” the diplomatic service said.
