Russia, China to sign record number of documents
Russian President Vladimir Putin will have bilateral meetings with the leaders of Mongolia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran as part of the official visit to China
MOSCOW, May 16. /ITAR-TASS/. A package of documents due to be signed during the visit to China by Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for May 20-21 will top the record, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has said.
Gazprom and CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation) continue preparations for signing a deal to sell Russian natural gas to China, he said on Friday.
“There are 40-43 documents. They are now being finalized and it is unknown if all documents are signed or not. About 30 agreements can be concluded,” Ushakov said.
Rosneft and China’s SINOPEC also continue the work on Russian oil supplies to China. “The document is being prepared. We’re actively working on it,” he said.
Russia’s NOVOTEC and CNPC continue thrashing out an agreement on liquefied gas supplies, Ushakov said.
Several documents may be signed on May 20 upon completion of the Russia-China summit. The others will be concluded in the presence of the presidents of both countries, he said.
Heads of major Russian companies will take part in the upcoming talks and meetings in Shanghai. “Practically all Russian companies, which operated in China in any form, will take part in the summit,” Ushakov said.
Gazprom head Alexei Miller, Rosneft head Igor Sechin, as well as businessmen Gennady Timchenko and Oleg Deripaska, will accompany the Russian president in China, he said.
Putin to have several bilateral meetings

Putin will meet with Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorzh, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Ushakov said on Friday.

They will meet on May 20, he added.
On May 21, Putin will take part in the 4th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ushakov said.
The Conference includes 24 states. Nine countries and four international organisations have an observer status, he said.
“All of them will take part in the Conference in Shanghai,” Ushakov said.
The summiteers will adopt a declaration that will reflect coordinated positions on global and regional security, sustainable development and multi-faceted cooperation, he said.
The participants in the Conference upheld Russia’s proposal to create a business council. “The SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organisation] secretary-general will sign a memorandum on mutual understanding between the Conference’s secretariat and the SCO,” Ushakov said.
“The CICA is expected to establish partnership with the CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organisation] and ASEAN [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] in the future,” he said.
Commenting on the agenda of the summit, he said the first plenary session, the working breakfast and the second plenary session would take place on May 21.
After the second session Putin will meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Ushakov said.
Then the summiteers will adopt a final declaration, he added.
