Iran hopes P5+1 will show political will in Vienna — foreign minister

VIENNA, May 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Iran’s top diplomat has expressed hope that P5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) will show political will at the talks in Vienna.

“Will is the key element to make any dialogue successful,” Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter on Friday.

“We’re committed to achieving progress,” he said.

The Iran-P5+1 talks started in Vienna on May 13. They focused on the future comprehensive agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program.

Earlier, delegations of Iran and the United States met within the Iran-Sextet talks in Vienna, an Iranian source said.

“The Iranian and US delegations met to discuss aspects of the future agreement,” the source told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

“Problems remain, but we are ready to continue the work,” it said.

“Today several other meetings are expected to be held. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will hold a news press conference,” the source said.
