Iran and Sextet to set about coordinating the elements of agreement on nuclear programme
VIENNA, May 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Representatives of Iran and the Sextet (five Permanent Members of the UN Security Council and Germany) will hold plenary sessions on Wednesday within the framework of the Vienna Round of negotiations, during which they will set about coordinating fragments of a future comprehensive agreement on the nuclear programme of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).
On Tuesday, the negotiators held a number of coordinating meetings, seeking to clarify their attitudes to some aspects. Sergei Ryabkov, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, who leads the Russian delegation, told Itar-Tass that Moscow expects headway in settling issues connected with a future reactor at Arak and transparency of the IRI's nuclear programme.
"We are confident that the leadership in Tehran and the entire delegation have available instructions conducive to headway," he pointed out. "The Russian Federation, through its representatives in the capitals of Sextet countries, as well as in Tehran, and our delegation at these talks have been consistently coming out and will continue to do so during this round of talks in favour of securing that the talks result in drawing up if only fragments of the text of a final agreement," Ryabkov said.
The project is based on the Geneva agreement reached in November last year, according to which Iran undertakes, specifically, to discontinue the enrichment of uranium above the five percent level, and get rid of a half of the stocks of highly enriched uranium.
The implementation of the Geneva accords was started on January 20 and is intended for six months. A final document, as is planned by all the sides participating in the talks, should come into being before July 20 and replace the intermediate one.
