BISHKEK, May 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Kyrgyzstan’s government has approved a draft version of the roadmap for the republic’s joining Russia-led Customs Union.

“The draft roadmap has been presented to the Eurasian Economic Commission and approved by the inter-departmental commission,” the government’s press service said on Monday.

Kyrgyzstan will continue working on ways of adapting its economy to the norms and standards of the Customs Union. “The government took a decision to submit draft documents to the Supreme Council corresponding committees,” the press service said.

The Kyrgyz authorities took a decision to join the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) in the spring of 2011. Six months later Kyrgyzstan gave an application that had been approved. Since then the parties have held consultations on conditions for Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Customs Union.

The Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia was established on January 1, 2010. Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia are to go on with economic integration and vowed to remove all customs borders between their countries after July 2011.
