MOSCOW, May 12. /ITAR-TASS/.Moscow hopes that the referendums in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine will result in a civilised dialogue between representatives of Kiev, Donetsk and Luhansk, the Kremlin press service reported.

“Moscow respects the expression of will of the population of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and proceeds on the basis that the implementation of the results of the referendums will be carried out in a civilised way, without any relapse of violence, through dialogue between representatives of Kiev, Donetsk and Luhansk,” the statement says.

“In the interests of building such dialogue any mediation efforts, including through the OSCE, are welcome,” the Russian president’s press service said.

“Russia has attentively followed the preparation and holding of the referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine,” the statement says. “We note the high turnout of the population, despite attempts to disrupt the voting.”

Kremlin also condemned the use of forced that has taken place, “including with the use of heavy armaments against peaceful citizens that caused human losses.”

“Moscow respects the expression of will of the population of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and proceeds on the basis that the implementation of the results of the referendums will be carried out in a civilised way, without any relapse of violence, through dialogue between representatives of Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk,” the statement says. Also, Russia would welcome “any mediation efforts” in the interests of building such a dialogue, “including through the OSCE,” the RF president’s press service said.

On Sunday, residents of east Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions held referendums on the status of their regions.
