Death toll in South Korea’s ferry crash rises to 259
Divers inspected 61 of 64 planned cabins
SEOUL, May 5./ ITAR- TASS/. The divers managed to raise on the surface 11 bodies, bringing the total number of victims of the tragedy of the South Korean ferry Sewol to 259 . Another 43 people had gone missing, the government's operational headquarters on the island of Chindo said.
Dead bodies were found shortly after divers resumed their search inside the sunken body at a depth of 35 meters vessel.
Throughout last night search and rescue operations were not carried out due to strong wind and high tide, which in some places in the area close to ten meters.
Divers inspected 61 of 64 planned cabins. There were 111 cabins in total.
If by May 15 others missing will not be found, then the divers begin to survey the cargo holds on the first and second decks.
