US Vice President once again urged Russia to withdraw its troops from borders with Ukraine

KIEV, April 22. /ITAR-TASS/. US Vice President Joseph Biden believes that Russia should also take part in the activities of the mission of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in eastern Ukraine. He made this statement on Tuesday at the meeting with parliament appointed Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

It is necessary that Russia’s representatives join OSCE observers, which are currently in Ukraine’s east, in order to implement the Geneva accords, clear buildings, disarm and provide amnesty, Biden believes.

He once again urged Russia to withdraw its troops from borders with Ukraine. Otherwise, Biden says, this may lead to escalation of tension in Ukraine and further isolation of Russia.

Russian presidential spokesperson confirms troops are near Ukrainian border

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated April 18 that there were actually Russian troops near the Ukrainian border. “Our troops are located in different regions, including near the Ukrainian border. These units are deployed there, some of them permanently, others are meant for enforcement amid the developments in Ukraine,” Peskov explained.

“This is a country where a state coup has recently occurred,” the presidential spokesperson stressed. Thus, he said, “it’s natural that any country would take special preventive measures regarding its own security”. Meanwhile, Dmitry Peskov emphasized that “Russia is an absolutely sovereign state that is free to deploy its troops without any restrictions in any location of its territory”.

“It is wrong to claim that these troops have anything to do with the developments in Ukraine, and this mostly refers to facts spinning, voluntary astute manipulation of facts to correlate them with the truth that isn’t true.”
