MOSCOW, April 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Ministry has lauded Panama’s decision to unilaterally abolish visa regime for Russian citizens.

The Panama president signed a decree on April 9 to cancel visas for Russian citizens, entering Panama. The document came into effect on April 14.

“Panama’s decision is aimed at strengthening friendly relations and boost cooperation between our countries in different fields. We consider this decision a weighty contribution to expanding visa-free trips between Russia and Latin American countries,” the Foreign Ministry says.

“We are ready to sign an intergovernmental agreement with Panama in the near future to give up visa formalities for citizens’ mutual trips,” the ministry says.
