MINSK, April 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Armenia has practically implemented the roadmap for joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said.

“Today I can say that the roadmap gas practically been implemented” and this will be reported at the upcoming summit in Minsk in late April, Nalbandian said at a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday.

The visit to Belarus “gives us a good opportunity to discuss Armenia’s steps towards joining the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union ahead of the summit in Minsk and then in Kazakhstan”, he said.

The presidents of the three states (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) are expected to meet in Minsk on April 29.

At present, the work is continuing to implement the roadmap. Armenia “is actively working to this end”, Lukashenko said.

Commenting on the Belarusian-Armenian relations, Lukashenko said cooperation between the two countries was developing dynamically.

“We may not have a very large trade volume, but since it was zero before, this is big progress,” he said.

Lukashenko said Armenian investors were quite active in Belarus and “Armenia is expected to increase investments, including private ones, in the near future”.

“The [trade volume] figures are not big but still they stood at $50 million last year,” Nalbandian said, adding that trade turnover had increased by almost 22%.

“Together with our Belarusian colleagues we will seek to intensify trade and economic relations and develop cooperation in all fields,” he said.
