Right Sector activist detained in Sloviansk to be released in coming days
Self-defense forces of Donbass briefed Irma Krat, who was detained in Sloviansk
SLOVIANSK /Donetsk Oblast/, April 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Irma Krat, an activist of the Right Sector, and representative of the self-defense forces of Ukraine’s Donetsk region have held a joint briefing in Donetsk. Both parties stated that they agreed to release Irma Krat soon. The self-defense forces believe that she is one of the Maidan ‘centurions’, and have detained her on suspicion of subversion.
“The conditions are normal, nobody bullies me, I’m fed properly,” Krat said at the briefing.
Answering questions of journalists, Irma Krat stated that she was disappointed by the results of the conflict in Kiev. The Female century of the Right Sector, which she leads, was advocating the release of Yulia Tymoshenko. “Yulia was freed, but nothing changed. There’s no one to vote for on the upcoming elections,” Krat said. “If those who rallied in Kiev, knew where the conflict would lead, they would not mount the barricades,” the Right Sector activist said.
Krat added that during her stay in Donetsk, she did not see Russian servicemen and had not noticed signs of their presence.
The event took place in the office of the Security Service department in Sloviansk that is occupied by supporters of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Irma Krat was brought to the briefing blindfold; the self-defense supporter remained masked during the conversation with journalists and refused to present himself.
He said Krat was detained on suspicion of subversion. In addition, the self-defense activists claim that she is guilty of staging tortures of Berkut servicemen that were captured by Right Sector activists during unrest in Kiev.
Irma Krat says she came to Sloviansk as a journalist to carry out a personal investigation of the incident in Sloviansk overnight from April 19 to April 20. She added that she was trying to find out the details of the incident, therefore she arrived to the site of the clashes.
Both parties assured the audience that an accord was reached to set Irma Krat free in the coming days.
