Russia, EU continue energy dialogue despite sanctions
MOSCOW, April 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Despite recent anti-Russian sanctions, Russia and the European Union continue their energy dialogue with a next session of the inter-parliamentary working group for energy due in Hungary on April 22-23.
Attending the session would be deputies of the State Duma lower house of Russian parliament and the European Parliament, public representatives, as well as representatives of the business and scientific circles, the executive secretary of the group, Alexei Starikov, told ITAR-TASS on Monday.
Starikov said the session would discuss Russian-European cooperation on atomic power engineering, while one of the meetings would be held directly at Paks nuclear power plant, located 100 kilometers from Hungarian capital Budapest.
“Besides, it will look into the energy dialogue under present conditions,” he said. The working group for energy was set up at the end of 2012. Parliamentarians have met in Moscow, Brussels, Strasbourg, in Russia’s Far East, as well as in Hungary.
The upcoming session wraps up the activity planned for a certain period of time. The group will renew its activity after elections to the European Parliament in May 2014.
