Federalization supporters in Ukraine’s Sloviansk seize radio, TV broadcasting center

Around 200 supporters of federalization in Ukraine have gathered for a rally at the Prokofyev international airport in Donetsk region

KIEV, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Federalization supporters in the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk have occupied the radio and television broadcasting center which airs Ukrainian TV channels in the cities of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Horlivka and Makeevka, local media reported.

According to reports, protesters have switched off broadcasts of Ukrainian TV programs and ordered to start broadcasting Russian TV channels.

 

Rally at the airport

Around 200 supporters of federalization in Ukraine have gathered for a rally at the Prokofyev international airport in Donetsk region, according to local media reports.

The airport's management reportedly said they were ready to pass under jurisdiction of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, but units of interior troops controlled by current Kiev authorities were also staying at the airport. The sides are in talks now.
