PARIS, April 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia believes that the UN Security Council cannot adopt a consensus document on Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told reporters on Tuesday.

He recalled Russia had initiated the debate on Ukrainian issue at the UN Security Council, where “we had given our assessments absolutely clearly and with commitment to principles.”

Gatilov did not rule out that “the UN Security Council will have to return to this issue in the future with due account of dynamical development of current situation.”

“We did not propose to adopt any document, particularly taking into account the position of the UN Security Council member states,” he said in reply to an ITAR-TASS journalist’s question whether any document can be taken upon results of debate over current crisis in Ukraine at the UN Security Council.

“We assume that a consensus document (on Ukraine) cannot be approved,” the Russian deputy foreign minister said, noting that no document was planned upon results of the council’s meeting. “We will see how current situation will develop in the future,” Gatilov added.
