Sanctions against Russia may leave thousands of Latvians jobless
The Latvian state-run railway concern may face largest problems
RIGA, April 14. /ITAR-TASS/. In case of economic sanctions imposed on Russia over current crisis in Ukraine around 20 thousand Latvian residents may be left jobless, State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Welfare Ieva Jaunzeme cited this data in the Latvian capital on Monday.
In her words, the Latvian state-run railway concern may face largest problems. “This enterprise depends highly from co-operation with its eastern neighbour,” she said.
Another sphere that may be affected is a fish-processing industry. In particular, this is production of canned fish. In case of sanctions against Russia residents employed in this sphere may also face unemployment.
“The majority has already drawn lessons from the 1995 crisis and choosing partners for business already does not put all eggs in one basket,” Jaunzeme added.
