SEOUL, April 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Three air drones discovered on the territory of South Korea were engineered and launched from North Korea, according to the results of midline investigation by South Korean Defense Ministry.
The drones were discovered in different parts of the country, which triggered serious concern in Seoul regarding its air defense. As it was reported, one of the drones flew unnoticed over the Cheongwadae (Blue House) residence of South Korean president and made shots of the office, as well as of important military facilities surrounding it.
“The evidence discovered in the course of joint investigation clearly point to the fact that these small drones were launched from the territory of North Korea,” South Korean Defense Ministry spokesperson Kim Min-seok said.
Experts say these drones have a 200 km range and are able to develop a speed of about 100-120 km per hour at heights up to 1-2 km.
According to the South Korean Defense Ministry spokesperson, specialists are currently attempting to recover data from the main processor to precisely define the drones’ locations of launches and final destinations. This may take at least several weeks.
