TOKYO, April 07. /ITAR-TASS/. After the 2013 execution Jang Song-taek, former deputy head of the State Defense Commission of North Korea (DPRK), the department of administrative bodies of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) has been liquidated, and his 11 deputies in this highly influential structure have been repressed, Seoul’s leading newspaper Chosun Ilbo writes on Monday, citing South Korean government sources.
According to the newspaper, the deputies of Jang Song-taek, who had been the husband of the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, have been either executed or sent to labor camps. The department of administrative bodies of the WPK Central Committee was in charge, in particular, of the security and law enforcement agencies.
The sources say that the North Korean bodies of authority are currently undergoing purges of officials suspected of ties with Jang Song-taek. He had previously been accused of an attempt to form a faction group of the reaction forces “for the overthrow of the party leadership and the socialist system.” According to Chosun Ilbo, the Seoul authorities, in particular, have confirmed the fact of execution of Jang's elder sister Kye-sun and her husband and ambassador to Cuba Jon Yong-jin, as well as their son-in-law Kim Yong-ho, head of a trading company.
