Afghanistan priority at Council of CSTO Foreign Ministers — CSTO secretary
MOSCOW, April 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Afghanistan will be high on the agenda of the Council of CSTO Foreign Ministers due to be held in Moscow on April 3, Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov has said.
“The meeting will be chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha will give a report on the situation in the CSTO responsibility zone and adjacent regions,” he said on Tuesday.
The foreign ministers are expected to make a statement on Afghanistan due to the presidential elections in the country and sign a plan of consultations on foreign policy, security and defense, Zainetdinov said.
The ministers will also discuss measures to improve coordination within the CSTO and develop cooperation in information sphere, as well as contacts with civil institutions and the youth, he said.
The CSTO is an intergovernmental military alliance including Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
