Talks with Russia on the future of Ukrainian military hardware and military property in Crimea continue

KIEV, March 26. /ITAR-TASS/. In its preliminary calculations, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry estimates the military property in Crimea at 18 billion hryvnias (about $1.7 billion), Deputy Defense Minister Leonid Polyakov told a briefing on Wednesday.

“These are just preliminary estimates. The figure of 18 billion hryvnias was voiced on Tuesday,” he said, adding that talks continued with Russia on the future of Ukrainian military hardware and military property in Crimea.

The deputy minister said Ukrainian seamen had not sunk their naval ships as this could be subject to liability in a situation when no martial law had been declared.

“If Ukrainian military fail to move out their hardware and property, Ukraine will demand compensations from Russia in international courts of law,” Polyakov noted.
