NATO concerned over boosting of Russia’s military presence near Ukrainian borders

NATO general Philip Breedlove earlier noted the high combat readiness of Russian troops near the Ukrainian borders

BRUSSELS, March 25. /ITAR-TASS/. NATO is very concerned that Russia boosts its military presence on Ukrainian borders, the organization’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen stated on Tuesday.

“We are very concerned over Russia’s boosting its military presence on border with Ukraine,” he told journalists in Brussels.

Earlier, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations, Gen. Philip Breedlove gave a high estimate to Russian troops’ readiness near the western borders of Russia. Russian forces being relatively close to the Ukrainian border are characterized by high number and a very strong combat readiness, the NATO commander noted.
