Almost half of toxic substances taken away from Syria — OPCW

According to OPCW’s plans, Syria will be chemical weapons-free by April 27

THE HAGUE, March 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Almost half of poisonous substances has been taken away from Syria, the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) reported on Wednesday.

“UN/OPCW joint mission confirmed the transportation on March14 and 17 of another two bunches of chemicals,” the organization said. “Thus, the total volume of chemical weapons on freight ships of Norway and Denmark currently makes 45.6%.”

29.5% of first category chemical substances, including the most hazardous compounds, and 82.6% of second category chemicals classified among less dangerous industrial substances were transported out of Syria.

According to OPCW’s plans, Syria will be chemical weapons-free by April 27. The UK, Germany, USA and Finland will carry out its destruction.
