France reputation as a reliable supplier can be damaged due to frozen Mistral contract
In a very sensitive sphere of military-technical co-operation France begins undermining trust to the country, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin postes at his Twitter
MOSCOW, March 18./ITAR-TASS/. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin believes that France’s statements over possibly frozen contract on sale of helicopter carriers Mistral to Russia undermine trust to France as a reliable supplier. The deputy prime minister has made a posting at his Twitter page on Tuesday.
“Yesterday’s televised statements by the French foreign minister (Laurent Fabius) over Russian-French military-technical co-operation are surprising. In a very sensitive sphere of military-technical co-operation France begins undermining trust to the country as a reliable supplier,” Rogozin wrote down.
In the view of the deputy prime minister, all political uproar over a referendum in Crimea would subside soon and the two countries would have to work further together. “Probably our French partner is not informed about the number of jobs in France created thanks to our partnership. I ask European partners not to fan up current situation,” Rogozin addressed to an official of the French Foreign Ministry.
On Monday, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said live on TV channel TF-1 that France “may consider” possible annulment of carriers Mistral’s sale to Russia in case of further escalation of current situation in Ukraine. “Possible cancellation of the Mistral sale deal is on the list of measures within a third portion of sanctions against Russia. We are facing the second “level” of sanctions,” the minister said. “France may mull possible annulment of warships’ sale. But the country does not intend to act alone in this case, other countries are needed, in particular, France will ask Great Britain to take actions at similar scale with assets of Russian oligarchs in London,” the French foreign minister noted.
