Leaders of Crimea's largest parties sign memorandum

Representatives of all the political parties will ensure free expression of will by Crimeans in the referendum

SIMFEROPOL, March 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Leaders of Crimea's four largest parties have signed a memorandum on joint actions to successfully hold the March 16 referendum and agreed to vote for Crimea to join Russia.

Chairman of the Crimean organization of the Party of Regions Volodymyr Konstantinov, Chairman of Russian Unity Sergey Aksyonov, Deputy Chairwoman of the republic's Union party Svetlana Savchenko and First Secretary of the republic's committee of the Ukrainian Communist Party Oleg Solomakhin had signed the memorandum, an Itar-Tass correspondent reported.

Representatives of all the political parties will ensure free expression of will by Crimeans in the referendum, the document reads.

They have also agreed to refrain from inter-party competition and ensure a friendly atmosphere and cooperation. According to the document, members of the parties will actively and conscientiously work in election commissions.

The leaders of four Crimean parties agreed that they would vote for Crimea's joining to the Russian Federation.

The representatives of the Crimean parties noted the importance of the memorandum. “Today, regardless of various political views, the four of us have signed an important document. It indicates that we are working for the good of Crimean residents and want to make their life better,” Savchenko said. Konstantinov noted the signing of the document showed the unity of political forces in the difficult time for the good of the republic. “We will go together,” he added.

The Crimeans have been going to this for the long 22 years. Today we must unite Crimea. By signing the memorandum, we unite efforts for the good of people," said the Crimean Communist leader.
