MOSCOW, March 12. /ITAR-TASS/. The US Chamber of Commerce opposes the introduction of unilateral sanctions against Russia over political tensions in Crimea. “We in the business community do not want to be caught in the crossfire,” Myron Brilliant, executive vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, told the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.

The publication says last week, a meeting of the US-Russia Business Council headed by Alcoa CEO Klaus Kleinfeld with Obama administration’s national security advisers took place. They discussed concerns over the sanctions, in particular, the risks that European competitors would gains some share of the Russian market, the Wall Street Journal writes.

Publication’s sources among current and former American officials say that the US and other Western countries would focus on “individual, targeted sanctions because broader economic sanctions could directly harm Western businesses”.
