The broadcasting of channels Rossiya 1, Rossiya 24, Channel One, RTR Planeta and NTV Mir will be stopped on the territory of Ukraine

KIEV, March 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio has demanded that providers stop broadcasting five Russian channels starting 09:00 pm Moscow time (GMT+4) on March 11. The Council’s press service said that the broadcasting of channels Rossiya 1, Rossiya 24, Channel One, RTR Planeta and NTV Mir will be stopped.

By 2:00 pm Moscow time (GMT+4), 50% of Ukraine’s providers have already stopped broadcasting the following channels, and others are preparing to follow suit. The National Council says that such decision was motivated by the necessity to ensure informational security in compliance with the decree of the Council of National Security and Defense (CNSD) of March 1, 2014 “About urgent measures on ensuring national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine” and CNSD appeal of March 6, 2014 to the National Council on Television and Radio.
