Crimea recognizes Yanukovych as legitimate Ukrainian president
But Crimean residents have made up their mind on the path to follow, Crimean parliament speaker Konstantinov says
SIMFEROPOL, March 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Crimean Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Konstantinov stated that the Tuesday’s media briefing by legitimate Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Russia had confirmed once again that Kiev authorities were non-legitimate.
“This is one more confirmation of non-legitimacy of current Ukrainian authorities. All that they say is of no major importance for us today. Crimean residents have made their choice and are going their own way using their right for self-determination,” Konstantinov stated. “Yanukovich is legitimate president, he will do what he finds needed, it is difficult for me to comment on him (his actions),” the parliament speaker added.
Yanukovych stated in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don earlier on Tuesday that he was the legitimate president and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief in Ukraine and intended to return to the country from Russia.
