Leader of Ukraine’s nationalistic Right Sector demands his forces get access to arsenals
A source at Ukraine’s defense authority says the Right Sector’s leader Dmytro Yarosh demands receiving armory and medical equipment, as well as several military training centers
KIEV, March 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Leaders of the Right Sector nationalistic radical group have demanded from the country’s authorities to open arsenals for their self-defense forces, a source at Ukraine’s defense authority told Itar-Tass on Friday.
“The demand came from the Right Sector’s leader Dmytro Yarosh. He claimed the enforcers’ ‘conservative approaches’ do not help restore order in the country and prevent anti-Maidan protests in the country’s eastern and southern regions,” the source said.
Yarosh “in a form of ultimatum” demands receiving armory and medical equipment, as well as several military training centers, the source said. Those centers, Yarosh said, should be used “for quality training of the Right Sector’s forces, as they will participate in securing Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” the source said.
If the government and the country leaders fail to abide by the demands, “Yarosh does not rule out that the Right Sector will participate in Ukraine’s fate more energentically,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian media report that on March 5 the country’s parliament Verkhovna Rada received a suggestion on granting to Right Sector a status of regular militarized units. The country’s Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, appointed by the parliament, dismissed three deputy defense ministers, as they had refused to support the initiative regarding Right Sector.
