Tokyo will determine the concrete amount of this aid on the basis of consultations with the International Monetary Fund

TOKYO, March 07. /ITAR-TASS/. The Japanese government is ready to provide financial assistance to Ukraine and will determine the concrete amount of this aid on the basis of consultations with the International Monetary Fund, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters on Friday.

The top diplomat said the necessary sum would be determined after consultations with the IMF and Ukraine. The foreign minister declined to answer the query whether Japan was planning to join US sanctions imposed in connection with developments in Ukraine. “We will be reacting to the situation accordingly, analyzing the existing tendencies and actions by different states,” Fumio Kishida said.

He said Tokyo was monitoring the situation in Ukraine “with regret and concern”, and once again spoke in favor of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
