Viktor Yanukovych says left Ukraine due to threat to his family’s life

ROSTOV-ON-DON, February 28. /ITAR-TASS/. Fugitive Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovych said Friday he had left his country due to threat to his and his family’s lives.

“No one deposed me. I was forced to leave Ukraine due to a direct threat to my life and the life of my close ones,” he told a press conference in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.

Yanukovych, forced to flee his official residence following a recent violent uprising in Ukraine, told journalists he would continue the fight for his country’s future.
