The new Ukrainian government has been recognized by the United States, the European Union and the United Nations

KIEV, February 24. /ITAR-TASS/. The United States, the European Union and the United Nations recognize new Ukraine’s government, acting president Oleksandr Turchynov said at a meeting with deputy groups and factions.

“On your instruction, I’ve held meetings with representatives of the United States, the European Union and the UN. They recognize Ukraine’s power and consider it legitimate,” Turchynov said.

The key task is to create a coalition government. “Yesterday the factions started consultations on this issue. I believe that tomorrow, February 25, we’ll be able to announce about the creation of such government,” the speaker said.

“We have many laws and resolutions. However, no one can realize them. That is why before the government is formed we won’t be able to carry out laws,” he said.

Presidential election campaign launched

Oleksandr Turchynov said that Ukraine's Central Election Committee launched the presidential campaign.

“Today the Central Election Commission will declare about early presidential elections. Candidates can be nominated tomorrow,” Turchynov said.

The speaker said the parliament should redistribute expenditures from the 2014 budget to prepare and hold the presidential elections. “The elections should be fair and transparent,” Turchynov noted.

The early presidential elections are scheduled for May 26.

New bans discussed in parliament

Ukrainian lawmaker Oleh Lyashko, who does not belong within any of the parliamentary factions, initiated the prohibition of Party of Regions and the Communist party. He added that “the Party of Regions together with their partners, the Communists, is to blame in the current developments in the country”.

Leader of the nationalist Svoboda (Freedom) party Oleh Tyahnybok has initiated to ban certain Russian channels to broadcast in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, according to head of Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) faction Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukraine goes bankrupt, and its treasury is empty.

“Ukraine has never faced such a financial catastrophe for all years of its independence,” he said, adding that Ukraine should immediately apply to the International Monetary Fund for financial assistance.
