KIEV, February 24. /ITAR-TASS/. Viktor Yanukovich and several other officials have been put on a wanted list, Ukraine's acting interior minister  Arsen Avakov posted on his Facebook account.

"A criminal case has been initiated over mass murder of civilians," it runs. "Yanukovich and some other officials have been put on a wanted list."

Avakov said the whereabouts of Yanukovich, whom the country’s parliament suspended from his presidential duties, are unclear.

The proxy for control over the Interior Ministry’s actions informed that February 21, Yanukovich together with Andrei Klyuyev “has gone by helicopter from Kiev to Kharkov intending to take part in Party of Regions congress”.

“On Saturday, February 22, after spending the night in the state residence in Kharkov, Yanukovich refused to participate in the congress, recorded a video message and went by helicopter to the airport of Donetsk,” Avakov said.

He noted that after arriving to the airport, “together with the guards he changed the helicopter to two private jets of Falcon type and tried to set out”, but the “border guards prevented the departure”.

After that, Yanukovich departed to the state residence in Donetsk, where he spent several hours.

“Late at night on February 22, Yanukovich’s cortege without traffic police convoy departed for Crimea. It arrived in Crimea February 23. Yanukovich put up at one of the private health retreats, intentionally ignoring state special facilities, in particular, the specialized state presidential villa, where he was supposed to come earlier,” Avakov went on saying.

“When he learned about the parliament’s resolutions on appointing Alexander Turchinov Ukraine’s acting president and that the newly appointed heads of the Interior Ministry and Ukraine’s Security Service had departed to Crimea, Yanukovich rushed from the health retreat to Belbek airport, where me and Nalivaychenko already were,” Avakov said.

“At 23:50 (21:50 GMT) Yanukovich stopped at a private residence near Balaklava, short of the Belbek airport. He gathered his guards, asked, who would accompany him further, and who would stay there. Part of the state guard service department staff expressed desire to stay there. Yanukovich took farewell and signed a waiving of the state guard service,” the Interior Ministry official said.

“Employees of the state guard service that decided to stay, took all the state-provided arms in order to hand them to the Crimean department of state guard service.”
