Extremists might provoke state of emergency in Kiev – expert
The protesters are armed with military weapons, they are attacking ordinary offices
KIEV, February 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian opposition does not control the protesters in Kiev streets, director of the Ukrainian Policy Institute Kost Bondarenko said on Tuesday warning that extremists might provoke the introduction of state of emergency in the city.
"While the opposition in parliament was negotiating certain terms, protesters on Independence Square, without waiting for outcome, began an offensive, restarting clashes in Kiev," Bondarenko said. "The protesters are armed with military weapons, they are attacking not only government buildings, but also ordinary offices with innocent people inside."
"Such actions can lead to the introduction of state of emergency in the city. The authorities had tried to avoid use of force till the last moment, and are still attempting to find a peaceful solution, but peace is nowhere near in this situation."
