GENEVA, February 10. /ITAR-TASS/. The situation in Homs proves that the Syrian moderate opposition and the government should unite to fight terrorism, Russian permanent representative to the U.N. and other international organizations in Geneva Alexei Borodavkin told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“Whenever difficult the talks (in Geneva) are what we managed to do over Homs proves that progress can be achieved by joint efforts. About 700 peaceful civilians have been evacuated from old quarters. Foodstuffs, medications and other humanitarian aid have been delivered,” Borodavkin said.

“The fact that radical Islamist groups attacked a humanitarian convoy and evacuated peaceful civilians proves that the Syrian moderate opposition and the government should unite to jointly fight terrorism,” the Russian permanent envoy said.

“As soon as we know the government delegation led by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem considers this task a priority one at the Geneva talks,” the diplomat said.
