President Viktor Yanukovich can offer a candidate for premiership next week, his political ally says
KIEV, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. President Viktor Yanukovich can offer a candidate for premiership next week, head of the Party of Regions fraction Alexander Yefremov told at a news briefing on Wednesday.
“The president has 60 days after the premier’s resignation to offer the candidate,” Yefremov said.
“The consultations continue. It seems to me the president will offer a candidate next week. It’s the parliament that will decide on this,” the lawmaker said.
Under the Constitution, the president submits a candidate for premiership to the parliament. If it is supported by not more than 226 deputies, the president will decree the appointment. Other members of the cabinet are appointed without the parliament’s approval.
