BRUSSELS, February 03. /ITAR-TASS/. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton is planning to have talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and the opposition leaders as part of her repeated visit to Kiev this week, Ashton’s spokesperson Maya Kocijancic told Itar-Tass.

The EU foreign policy chief is planning to have meeting with both parties. She intends to hold talks with Yanukovich and the opposition leader in order to contribute to ceasing violence, launching a political dialogue and overcome the political crisis, Kocijancic said.

Till now it is unclear when Ashton leaves for Kiev. The time is being specified, the spokesperson said.

In the meantime, a source in the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee told Itar-Tass earlier that Ashton would arrive in Kiev on Tuesday, February 4.

Ashton visited the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday, January 29. During the visit, she met the Ukrainian opposition and President Yanukovich.
