At a meeting featuring the government and ruling parties in Tokyo he said he hoped for a meeting with the Russian leader in Sochi. The prime minister will attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.

“I would like to use the opportunity to improve the personal trust relations with the president,” Abe said. “I would like to have a meeting with him aimed at progress of a peace agreement and development of the entire complex of the Japanese-Russian relations.”
