Iran not to fully dismantle its nuclear programme - foreign minister
U.S. White House tries to portray the Geneva agreements as basically a dismantling of Iran's nuclear program - Iran's FM
NEW YORK, January 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Iran fulfills the Geneva agreements, however it would not fully dismantle its nuclear program, as the United States tries to present it to the world, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is taking part in the World Economic Forum in Davos, told the CNN TV channel.
“The White House tries to portray it [stopping uranium enrichment to 20%] as basically a dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program. That is the word they use time and again,” he said, adding that the American administration often used such wording, commenting on the fulfillment of the Geneva agreements by Iran.
Zarif stressed that Tehran had undertaken certain commitments and will fulfill them. In particular, during the period specified in the agreement it would stop uranium enrichment above 5% and in six months it would eliminate all the stocks of nuclear materials enriched to 20%. In addition, Iran should stop the installation of any enrichment centrifuges and stop the construction of new uranium enrichment centers.
“We are not dismantling any centrifuges, we’re not dismantling any equipment, we’re simply not producing, not enriching over 5%,” the Iranian foreign minister said. He added that the text of the agreement between Iran and the six mediator countries (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, P5+1) on the Iranian nuclear dossier settlement contained not a single word about dismantling.
