Rouhani: Geneva II unlikely to succeed in war on terror since some participants sponsor it
Iran's president expressed his doubts in his Twitter account
MONTREUX, January 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Syrian peace conference is unlikely to be successful in its fight against terrorism since some of the forum’s participants are sponsoring it, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani posted in his Twitter on Wednesday while participants of the Geneva II conference are delivering speeches in Montreux, Switzerland.
“There is little hope that this meeting would be successful in terms of fighting terrorism, because some states that are sponsoring terrorism and responsible for the instability in the region are taking part in this session,” he wrote.
One day before the start of the conference, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon cancelled the invitation to Geneva II sent to Iran earlier upon demand of National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.
