BRUSSELS, January 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia's permanent representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said participants in the so-called Euromaidan, a newly coined term for ongoing protests and civil unrest in Ukraine's capital Kiev, have no idea of the content of the draft Ukraine-EU association agreement.

"Judging by Euromaidan reports, when protest participants were answering reporters' questions, it was clear that they had absolutely no idea about the content of the Association Agreement, despite the fact that the document had been published. They should have read it," Chizhov said in the runup to the 32nd Russia-EU summit in Brussels on January 28. The situation in Ukraine will be among the topics it will discuss.

"For example, many think that after Ukraine signs the agreement, it will have a visa-free regime with the EU or that the European Union will open its garners to pour golden rain on the troubled Ukrainian economy. They have such illusions," the Russian envoy said.

However, Chizhov noted that a majority of the interviews concerned the early stage of protests. "They are not giving interviews now, but tend to throw bottles with incendiary compound and use other paraphernalia of "peaceful rallies," he said.
