Israel’s embassy worried over growing anti-Semitic moods in Kiev
KIEV, January 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Israel’s embassy in Ukraine is worried over growing anti-Semitic moods and bodily assaults on members of the Jewish community in the country’s capital, the embassy’s press service said on Tuesday.
The Israeli diplomats call on the Ukrainian authorities to find and bring to responsibility all those who took part in attacks on members of the Jewish community in Kiev in the recent days.
“We have urged the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation to find those responsible and put them to justice,” the embassy said in a statement.
According to the Israeli diplomats, their country hailed the Ukrainian government’s efforts to fight against anti-Semitism and hoped that it would “condemn such actions and would do its best to prevent them in future.”
Local media have reported growing instances of attacks on ethnic Jews in Kiev after the beginning of the protest action in the Independence Square.
