MOSCOW, January 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha has opposed the use of the organization’s military component for the resolution of conflicts between its member countries.

Speaking of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border incident, he expressed the view that it was a matter between the two states and only they and nobody else could settle it.

“We can only act as mediators, nothing more, which we are doing. The leadership of the two states should settle these problems,” Bordyuzha said at a news conference at Itar-Tass.

“If we start to interfere in internal affairs, this will mean that we assume the police functions. We don’t want that. Moreover, the leaders of the states do not give us such mandate,” the CSTO secretary general emphasized.

He also expressed the view that “it is easy to make a decision on bringing troops, but it is much more difficult to overcome the conflict.
