CSTO Secretary-General: NATO wants breakup of post-Soviet territories
However, Bordyuzha said no meeting had been requested with NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen
MOSCOW, January 21. /ITAR-TASS/. The western world's NATO military alliance wants a break-up of post-Soviet territories and is reluctant to cooperate with the Collective Security Treaty Organization, CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha told a news conference at Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
Bordyuzha's comments follow publication by the WikiLeaks organization of secret information and news leaks from anonymous sources confirming that western powers had no intention to support integration processes on territories of the former Soviet Union.
“This is counterproductive,” he said. “Some countries urge cooperation. Others believe there is no need to support integration processes on post-Soviet space.”
However, Bordyuzha said no meeting had been requested with NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. "Before meeting, we need to realize for what purpose we meet," the official said, representing CSTO member-states Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan alongside observer countries Afghanistan and Serbia.
"Now we see no reciprocal movement or any intention, for instance, to start cooperating with the CSTO,” he added, expressing confidence that such cooperation would be useful for member-states of both NATO and the CSTO and noting good relations between the CSTO and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the six-nation Eurasian political, economic and military grouping.
