KIEV, January 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Opposition deputies in the Ukrainian parliament “are equipping community defense volunteer squads,” with cold arms, the press service of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry reports.

“Commandants of the so-called ‘Euromaidan’ (Kiev’s Independent Square, the site of continuing mass rallies), or alias people’s deputies of Ukraine from the opposition, are equipping ‘community defense volunteer squads’. Wooden sticks with metal tips are spread among aggressively minded people at their initiative,” ministry’s report says.

“These sticks are nothing else but dangerous cold arms, that they intend to use to injure law enforcement officers,” it continues.

The Interior Ministry has urged citizens to stop confrontation, to avoid committing crimes and to keep the peace as clashes between demonstrators protesting against new laws restricting public protests and police continue in Ukraine’s capital.
