MOSCOW, January 20, 14:51 /ITAR-TASS/. Syrians should declare war to foreign mercenaries, leader of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation Qadri Jamil told a news conference on Monday.

“We say sincere Syrians should unite to mount opposition to armed foreigners. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said all Syrians should oppose foreign mercenaries and terrorists, who invaded Syria,” the Syrian vice-premier said.

If terrorists were not supplied weapons and money, Syrians would be able to expel them, Jamil said, adding that even Syrians Islamists came against foreign mercenaries.

Opposition and Geneva 2

Syrian Vice-Premier said he was hopeful that the external Syrian opposition would take part in the Geneva II Peace Conference despite Iran’s involvement in the forum.

“As I know the National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces (NCOR) has not taken a final decision to this effect. I hope that the opposition will arrive in Geneva to take part in the conference,” Jamil told Itar-Tass.

On Saturday, January 18, NCOR representatives said they would take part in the Geneva II Peace Conference. On Sunday, January 19, Iran was invited to take part in the forum. Afterwards the external Syrian opposition said it intended to refuse to take part in the talks.

Jamil said he did not object to Iran’s involvement in the peace conference. “We call for involving all forces, which are capable of putting influence upon the settlement of the conflict in Syria.

The Leader of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation urged opponents to President Bashar al-Assad to give up own benefits and rivet attention to holding the Geneva II Peace Conference.

“We think that the conference is useful and indispensable. No one can make fun of it. No one should neglect it. Everyone should forget about own benefits and debate who will take part in the forum or not. The task is broader,” Jamil told a news conference on Monday.

“Different forces don’t want to take part in the conference and they are trying to wreck it. It is necessary to continue the efforts in order to overcome opposition and make the Geneva II Peace Conference successful,” the Syrian vice-premier said.

Political accord

 Qadri Jamil said he was hopeful that accord would be reached on many disputable issues, including political ones, at the Geneva II Peace Conference.

An agreement may be reached on the creation of a new government, the Syrian vice-premier told a news conference on Monday.

“The Syrian government talks about ‘a broad government’ while the external opposition speaks about ‘a transition government’ and we intend to form a national accord government,” he said.

“I believe that formulations differ. Our priority is to grant real powers to the future government, which will be able to settle the crisis,” he said.

“The crisis should be settled based on a dialogue between Syrians themselves and between the external parties,” Jamil said, adding that primarily the participants in the conference should decide on ceasing bloodshed.

Humanitarian mission

No matter who will go to the Geneva II Peace Conference the key task is to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Syria, Qadri Jamil said.

“The convocation of the conference is important. But it is insufficient to make the conference successful. It is necessary to carry out certain conditions. No matter who will take part in the conference, the forum participants should assume responsibility for overcoming the humanitarian crisis,” Jamil said.

“The international community should correct the mistakes. Syria is surviving a dreadful humanitarian crisis,” the Syrian vice-premier said.
