Polonsky to stay in Cambodia
Cambodian authorities impose travel restrictions on the businessman, the Russian Foreign Ministry says
MOSCOW, January 13./ITAR-TASS/. Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky will stay in Cambodia under travel restrictions. His extradition to Russian has been suspended because a criminal case against him on violence charges has not been closed, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
“On January 13, the Court of Appeals set up under the Cambodian Prosecutor General’s Office decided to suspend the extraditio1n of Russian national Sergei Polonsky because a criminal case against him on violence charges has not yet been closed in the town of Sihanoukville,” the Russian Foreign Ministry went on to say.
The court also decided to temporarily release Polonsky from custody to enable him to finish the necessary court procedures in Sihanoukville.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that the Cambodian authorities had imposed travel restrictions on the businessman.
