MOSCOW, January 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Thai Airways are not planning to cancel flights due to protest actions in Bangkok, the company’s press service reported on Friday.

“Bangkok and other cities and regions of Thailand don’t face pressure of the events: local residents and foreign tourists can freely move across the country. Traffic in the Thai capital, besides certain streets, is opened,” the press service said.

Major enterprises, including banks, fuel filling stations, hotels, resorts, restaurants, entertainment centers, cinemas, conference centers, malls and shops, drug-stores and hospitals are opened and work as usual, the press service said.

“On January 13, on the day of a large-scale protest action the company is planning to work as usual without cancelling flights and reducing staff.” The company recommends tourists to plan more time for registration, go to the airport four hours before the flight and avoid crowded areas,” the press service said.

On January 13, the opposition intends to stop traffic in Bangkok at 20 highways. Protesters also pledge to switch off power and water at government buildings. The protest action can last for 20 days. Law and order in the city will be ensured by 20,000 policemen and military, the Thai authorities report.

The Foreign Ministry strongly recommended Russians not to visit Bangkok over the plans of the Thai opposition to stage large-scale protest actions in Bangkok starting from January 13.

“Clashes between the opposition and government forces are not ruled out,” the ministry said on Thursday, January 9.

“In this connection, we strongly recommend Russian citizens to refrain from trips to Bangkok. We also recommend travel companies serving Russian tourists to cancel excursions to the Thai capital in the period of possible mass opposition actions,” the ministry said.
