MOSCOW, January 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Two Russian tourists who got injured in a traffic accident in Egypt remain at Sharm el-Sheikh hospital, says Irina Shchegolkova, head of the press service department at the Russian tourism authority, Rostourism.

“Those who continue treatment at the clinic are tourists from Yekaterinburg,” she said. “They are in serious conditions. Now, the doctors and Russia’s emergency situations ministry (EMERCOM) consider a possible transportation of one of the patients to Russia.”

Other Russian tourists, who got injures in the accident, have left the hospital and continue their stay at hotels, she added.

On January 8, several Russian tourists became involved in a road accident on the way back from a tour to the Sinai Peninsula. The accident occurred on the road section between Saint Catherine’s Monastery and Dahab, 150 kilometers away from Sharm el-Sheikh.

Rostourism reported that the tour had been purchased at the so-called “street travel agency”. The tour was held in violation of the Russian Foreign Ministry recommendations for Russian tourists not to leave resort areas, the report says.

The investigation proved that the mini-bus’s driver had no license to carry foreign tourists.

“Thus, Rostourism confirms Russian Foreign Ministry’s recommendations for Russian tourists staying in Egypt or leaving for the country to take measures in order to ensure personal safety, be very careful and not to leave hotels’ areas with the exception of transfer to airport,” the report says.
