Chemical weapons not withdrawn from Syria by December 31 - OPCW

VIENNA, December 28, 16:38 /ITAR-TASS/. A procedure for withdrawing chemical weapons from Syria cannot be ended by December 31, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) reported.

The possible schedule variance is related to such factors as the bad weather conditions and the armed actions on Syria’s territory, the OPCW’s logistics head, Franz Krawinkler, said on Saturday.

It is probable that certain types of logistic supplies, which are indispensable to transport military toxic agents, will not arrive in time, the OPCW expert said.
